The Wrapped Stool
proposal positions itself
against the formal and material properties of the AllZone Pavillion, its design established from
material processes which are integrated in a fun,
lively and casual way.
Through acts of bending and weaving, the body and
the hand is implicated in the
chair’s tectonic assemblage and in the articulation of its
whimsical and light form.
The contextualization of these domestically scaled objects into the proposed architecture acknowledges designs ability to speak across cultural and design histories and legacies.
Alongside AllZone’s submission, the chair invites us to expand our understanding of extant materials and methods to facilitate sitting. Through process, the chair
engages with the lively and fun-spirited aspects of AllZone’s pavilion form, sitting lightly beneath, yet engaging deeply with its canopy.
